This was what I was struggling to get down yesterday. Lots of alternate picking in this one :)
This is me blowing of steam after trying to nail one particular piece for an hour and still not getting it right (this is Lonesome Street by Blur for those keeping stats). It’s rare I try just to do one thing for an entire hour but it seemed so close, but in the end was not to be and left me very frustrated. Still, that’s how the cookie crumbles: I’ll try again tomorrow.
I struggle to play the B7 on this, which I put down to lack of practice and chubby fingers :) Timing is a bit of too, but it’s a fun sound when you get it right
I’m currently breaking this one down and trying to get each section down and then play that bit in context. Again, thoughts to poor @lbj20 who had to listen to me play the same riff over and over each day.
Testing out my latest build today :) Such a lovely but simple riff, but great for working on your picking direction with its mix of sweeping and alternative picking.
I really struggle with timing, particularly with triplet timing. Even a simple exercise like this took me several minutes to get to this where I didn’t pause between each change in rhythm.
This is the earlier section of the chorus than the one I posted before, slowly getting to get the entire lot down. I try to put up something different here each time but the reality of practice is that I pay most things daily for a week or so, put them away and then come back again in a month or so. Repeat for several years :)
You get a slightly ropey version today as my camera operation skills failed very early into today’s practice session. That said if you listen to the album from which this comes they have about 5 takes of Need Your Love, which is a comforting reminder that even the greats don’t get it right first time
This one trips me up as you move across the B string as you need to change the fingers you use for the rest of it.
I really struggle to play this one without making stupid mouth movements, which looks very silly on camera, which is why I get annoyed at the start here as I thought I’d managed to get over that :)
Not a productive practice session today, had to leave it until later in the day and I was quite tired by this point. This is me fluffing my way through a riff, thinking about my picking, and then failing to remember any of that once the fuzz comes in. Sigh.
Today I Practiced: Need Your Love So Bad by Fleetwood Mac
Slowly getting there with this one, it looks quite simple to play but again Peter Green plays this with a lot of subtleties that make it go from an okay piece to a beautiful piece, and that’s what I need to try get right
