Very civil

I was playing around with Project Gotham Racing 3, a car racing game for the XBox 360 (an older one at that). In PGR3 you get to race around various cities, including London. I’d spotted obvious landmarks, such as the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, etc., but I thought I’d have a look and see how detailed it really was.

A screenshot of a blocky TVR car racing past some london buildings.

The above picture shows my nicely dented TVR parked a block down from Parliament Square, just outside the nice building of the Institute for Civil Engineers, where Laura and I had a nice dinner once at a NESTA event (freaky bathrooms though, which I imagine might confuse you after a drink or two, but I digress…). If we zoom in a little we can see:

A zoom in on the buildings shows a sign reading 'The Institute for Civil Engineering'

I have to confess, I laughed when I saw this – I’d not imagined they’d be quite that detailed. One can only imagine it’s similar for all the cities in the game. It adds quite a nice feel to the game when you can related to the environment. But let’s face it, it’s had to imagine anyone driving around London at 30 mph most days let alone 170 mph :)
