Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand has produced a book describing the food he encountered over touring round the world twice with the band. I wasn’t convinced, but then I heard the serialisation on Radio 4’s Book Of The Week (if you’re fast you can listen to all the episodes to date – they’re up for seven days) read by Alex himself. The prose is witty and luxurious, and the food both key and there as a way for him to talk about other parts of his life or the surroundings.

Definitely will have to get hold of the book at some point. I got quite nostalgic listening to today’s episode about restaurants in Glasgow. Probably made all the more attractive that I’ve not been well of the last couple of days and been limited a diet of mostly water…
