Went to see Renaissance last night, one of two comic book style films out this month (the other being A Scanner Darly), this one rendered in high contrast black & white, fitting with the story style. Renaissance is a film noir sci-fi story, following a policeman tracking down a missing scientist in future Paris. The film has a lot going for it – a plot with a twist, excellent visual appearance, wonderfully thought out design of future Paris, and a good voice acting cast, but it’s slightly let down by weak dialog, which is quite cliched at times. Still, worth a watch. There are lots of really nice visual touches.
