Blast from the past
As an undergrad me and my friends were impressed over a group of SGI Indy boxes in the open access cluster at uni. SGI kit back tehn just oozed cool, and if you’re a nerd it still does today, but in a sad, bygone era sort of way. So, when I returned to work this week I was plesently surprised to discover that Richard (my office mate) had scored me a free Indy that a friend of his was wanting rid of. So now my desk at work looks like this:
At some point I’ll bring it home, though I’m not sure where I’m going to put it. I think if I can get a big enough disk for it it’ll become a home file server. But these are details: it’s an Indy - how cool is that? :)
