Saw the latest rendition of The Hitch Hiker’s Guide To The Galaxy at the weekend. Despite my earlier worries about the film, I rather enjoyed it. In the most part I have to agree with this man (well, he is a Doctor…). I think the most common complaint I’ve heard is that it’s changed from the original - but what is the original? The previous version (radio series/book/tv series) have all had changes in them, so the changes for the film don’t bother me. In fact, some of the funnier bits of the film for me were the new bits. Lots of nice touches and nods to the TV version, and Stephen Fry did a good job of filling Peter Jones shoes as the book. Actually, I didn’t think Martin Freeman would be a good Arthur Dent, but he did that role well too. Worth a view, unless you’re totally wedded to a particular older version, in which case I suspect you’ll be disappointed.
