MyLifeBits
Saw a talk today at the lab today by a dude called Jim Gemmell about MyLifeBits, which is an attempt to allow everyone to capture their life digitally on their computer. It sounds a little big botherish (to quote Dave :), but it’s a personal database, and some of the stuff you can do with all that information is quite impressive. It records everything: email, phone calls, calander events, pictures, mp3s, text and voice annotations, your files, events, and then it can cross link things, allowing you find the web site you looked up last time Aunt May phoned, by finding the call and then finding a copy of all the web pages you looked up at the time (for a simple example :). I thinkyou really need to see a demo to appreciate the opportunitues, but I thought it was cool.
