gmail fun

15 Jun 2004

I’ve got a gmail account now, so I’m giving that a whirl to see what it’s like. If you’ve been living under a rock, Gmail is google’s email system. The idea is that you never delete anything, just archive it (they giv eyou a gig of space), and then you can find stuff by using Google’s search technology over it.

So far I’ve not really tested it much, as I’ve only had a days mail in it. Although, it is much nicer than most web mail clients I’ve used. It supports address tab comption, excellent threading support, and key presses for common actions. The only think that immediately bugs me is the lack of mail biff, as I’m a bit of a info junkie.

Currently I’m trying to import some of my old mail into gmail so I can try out the search features. I’m using this script (the one at the bottom note, as it’s not got a bug!) to do it. I’ll try to remember to post a better review once I’ve used it a while.
