Iced tea

17 Jul 2006

You might find this recipe quite useful at the moment:

  • Make a mug of earl grey tea (or similar) – don’t add anything like milk or sugar: it’s hot and you’re not actually trying to make a cup of tea. I only add this warning as in this weather it’s easy to get distracted and forget.
  • Let tea cool for a fwe minutes, so it’s not just going to melt your ice in an instant, but no need to wait till it’s totally chilled
  • Fill a tumbler with ice and some chunks of a lemon (I’ve used a couple of 1/8ths)
  • Pour your now lukewarm tea into tumbler
  • Squeeze in the juice of a lemon (or perhaps 3/4s of a lemon if you’ve use the above chunk setting)
  • Stir
  • Sip
  • Relax

You can iterate over those last steps a bit. Actually, reading this, I could have made it in a cocktail shaker I think and it would have worked quite well. But then, heat, brain working, not happening…
