If, like me, you sit at the intersection of being someone who likes music, and someone who has a nostalgia for when people could design interesting interfaces, then I can commend upon to ye the works of Mario Guzman.

For a long time now I’ve been using Music MiniPlayer, which is a custom UI for interacting with the current playing album in Apple’s Music app, something you need as the Music app’s own UI is not the best, and certainly has no fun about it.

And now Mario has also made QuickTune, which mimics the interface of the old Quicktime player, giving you access to the album artwork also.

As I’ve documented here and otherwhere, I do miss the more rich UI of yore, not only because I feel it was more communicative of state, but also it was just fun - I listen to music for fun, so why shouldn’t the app that enables that also be a little fun too?
