This is a “Mohnschnitzel”, which I got from Wiener Brot up near Oranienburger Straße in Berlin. It’s effectively a poppy seed paste cake, and was a nice half-way between a european style cake and something like an asian red-bean paste. It’s probably the most poppy seeds I’ve eaten in a single sitting (or walking even), and I imagine quite expensive to make at home given that poppy seeds only tend to come in very small amounts in spice jars. Still, I’ve bookmarked this recipe, as it was really good.

A photo of my hand holding a pastry/cake thing that is filled with a black looking paste in the middle.
