Sendean Cameras
When my lovely fixed 50mm lens, which I use almost daily, needed servicing (it hard dirt inside the lens that was showing up on photos), I did not have hight hopes. If you go into most camera shops to get something serviced or repaired it seems they want to send things away for several weeks and start charging you amounts that make it close to more effective to just buy a new one. Which is both frustrating and wasteful.
Thankfully though, I stumbled across Sendeam Cameras in Clerkenwell in London, who specialise in camera repair work just around the corner from the offices I’m working out of at the moment. They do in-house repair work, and the price to get my fixed 50mm lens a full serviced was just over fifty quid (a new lens would have been about eighty odd), and although they default to it taking a week, I asked nicely if I could just have a slot and bring it in on the right day, and they happily accommodated me, so I was only without my lens for one day for the assessment/estimate (which was free), and then for six hours on the day, rather than a week or so most places demand.
My lens is as good as new, and I didn’t have to just throw the old one away and get a new one, which makes me happy. And to boot they do free estimates, So if you need something fixing and can get over to Clerkenwell, then it’s worth popping in to Sendeam.
