Ruarri Joseph
Last week Laura and I went to IndigoO2 to see Cake, who were jolly good. In addition to Cake being good, so was their support act, Ruarri Joseph, who appeared on his own, as seems to be the trend for support acts of late. He sounded fantastic on his own with his beat up guitar, and very relaxed bantering with the audience.
I was worried that the album wouldn’t sound as good as the live renditions, but I’m happy to report that indeed they do, so I do recommend getting Tales of Grime & Grit (particularly if you’re called Neil Matheson, as I suspect it’d be right up your street :). It sounds like KT Tunstell might have done had her album not been terribly over produced, mixed in with a jolly version of James Yorkston. Pretend that made any sense.
