Pure morning

30 Jul 2006

I’ve always been a bit of a radio fan. As a kid I used to listen to Radio 4 comedies and such late at night (thanks to Dave Watson for educating me to these – And Now In Colour was a firm favourite), Over the last few years I’ve listened to a mixture of radio stuff, including KCRW over the Internet, and again back to news and comedy on Radio 4 – I suspect partly because I don’t own a TV, I find myself quite taken to radio comedy of late.

Anyway, my hifi doesn’t want to listen to the radio, so I’d been listening mostly using the BBC’s real streams, but they’re not very reliable. Mostly fine, but often cutting out or dropping bit rates sufficuently to cause people to sound like they’re trying to be Marvin the Paranoid Android. But no more. I’ve moved into the digital age (only 5 odd years I late I suspect) and got a Pure ONE DAB radio, which lets me listen to Today in top clear sound. Well, it did once I took the first one back, as it was faulty.

All I need now is a digital coffee maker and digital croissant constructor, and I’ll be set.
