Did you sleep well? No, I made a few mistakes...

24 Dec 2005

Hmmm. I’m not normally an earlybird, not since I was doing my undergrad degree and lived an hour away from my nine a.m. lectures. But of late I’ve been not sleeping that well, and increasingly getting up earlier. Today is Christmas Eve, and I’m on holiday, and I’ve opted out of driving to Glasgow today, so I should be free to relax and have a nice sleep in, right? Not so - 5.50 a.m. was when I woke up this morning - stupid body. Which is why, at 7.40 I’ve had my porridge, a cup of tea, am showered, and I’m about to head out to the shops to get food and stuff (also a vague effort to beat whatever rush there might be to buy food on Christmas eve).

On the cup side I now actually do tend to fall asleep quicker when I finally get to bed, but you can bet that skill does a runner when I try and fall asleep on my flight back from Dallas next month - sleeping on aircraft is not something I’ve mastered yet.

Anyway, to the shops…
