Life fuel...

21 Nov 2005

As has been pointed out before, I’m basically a machine that turns rock music and coffee into code. There’s worse things in life to be :) Anyway, whilst I can make a mean cappuccino at work, I need to rely on others to make good rock music. Thankfully I’ve hit on a bit of a seam of good tunes of late, so here’s some things that have kept me hacking. First up, Franz Ferdinand’s latest, You Could Have It So Much Better - top tunes, as I’ve already elaborated on here. Next up is Who Killed…? by The Zutons - I passed this up when it came out, but now I’ve got my hands on it I’m really enjoying the indie/jazz sound. Like most the things I mention here, both these albums have lyrics worth listening to. What else… Ah, The Libertines eponymous album is fantastic - had that on loop with the Zutons and The Dandy Warhols’ Thirteen Tales From Ubram Bohemia. The Libertines album is very intelligent, not at all what I’d expected, and very inclined to get stuck in your head. Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia is an old Dandy Warhols album (3 or 4 back I think), but it really rocks, despite having that track that was pimped to death by Vodafone. A very hip sound. I did get their last but one album on the back of that, titled Welcome To The Monkey House, which starts well but journeys to blandsville about halfway through never to return. Unfortunate. Anyway, that’s what’s been wearing a hole in my headphones for the last few weeks - suggestions for the next few weeks welcome :)
