iMac mini

12 Jan 2005

So the rumours were true - Apple just released an iMac mini, which costs just 340 pounds. It’s a G4 machine, so not your top dog if you want to play games, but it’s a sweet home machine otherwise. It’ll easily do web, mail, iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, Microsoft Office, etc. I’d love one for work, but I suspect Jon would object given that by the time they’re released I’ll only have two months left on my contract :) Doesn’t come with a screen, keyboard or mouse, but these are easy things to add. I must admit, I didn’t think the rumours would be right, but looks like it’s pseudo christmas :)

I wonder how buying say 5 of them for development work (using XCode’s built in distributed C compiler) would compare with a dual 2.0 GHz PowerMac (roughtly the same price) :)
