Elvis Costello - When I Was Cruel
Good old Elvis Costello. I grew up listening to Elvis Costello when I was a kid - Watching The Detectives and Every Day I Write The Book will probably be lodged in my brain forever. I’ve just listened to his latest outing, When I Was Cruel, and it is excellent. After a decade of experimenting with different styles, this is a wonderful blend of old Elvis Costello with modern twists, such as using samples in some tracks. There is not a dull or duff track on this album - it kept me attentive throughout - and I can’t remember the last time that happened. Definitely recommended.
