KCRW
One of the joys of broadband is access to new radio stations over the Internet. iTunes has a reasonable selection in there, including the non-stop ambient that is Groove Salad, which I’ve mentioned here before. However, my latest choice of radio station is KCRW, which is a “community service of Santa Monica College” - how they got from that to the acronym I don’t know :) (ACtually, if anyone can explain why just about every American readio station seems to start with the letter K then please post a comment, as I’d love to know). Anyway, I first heard of KCRW through the show Morning Becomes Eclectic, who had an excellent session/interview with Elvis Costello around the time of “When I Was Cruel”. Morning Becomes Eclectic seems to have quite a few sessions from looking at the web page, so probably worth keeping an eye on. Anyway, KCRW does a good mix of indie type music, and includes a good few british bands - last time I listened I heard both Radiohead and The Beta Band. Anyway, worth a listen if you’re broadband enabled.
