Muse - Absolution

26 Sep 2003

Got the new Muse album this week, Absolution, which I’d been waiting for for a while. The first two Muse albums, Showbiz and Origin of Symmetry, were fantastic. Matthew Bellemy has an excellent voice and masters the guitar and piano, providing an excellent sound. But the new album just isn’t as good IMHO, despite that just about everyone else seems to be going mad over it. Unlike the last two albums, which had very distinct sounds to them, with a good use of sounds, this album is good, but sounds too engineered. Bellemy’s voice is lost somewhat in it all, and the music is good but lacks texture. It’s not bad, and the current single is good, but I prefered the more quirky and raw work on the previous albums. Ho hum.
