I’ve seen Metallica’s latest melody, St Anger, on Q Music. The video is filmed as a concert in San Quentin jail, and the end of which some text appears which roughly says “To all the lost souls at San Quentin jail, you’ll be part of Metallica forever.” Ah, yes, how rock and roll, showing comradery with the people in the jail. The slight irony being that Metallica was one of the first bands to start using the courts to pursue MP3 file sharing people. Now, I’m against copyright theft (although would be telling porkies if I said I’d never copied an MP3 or two), but it strikes the amusing that someone as ligititous as Metallica should be trying to pretent that they’re the friends of those locked away.
