MWSF goodies

8 Jan 2003

It was Mac World San Francisco yesterday, and Apple released a load of goodies (though failed to announce any interesting processor news). There are new 12" and 17" PowerBooks (just how bulky is a 17" laptop one wonders), and 802.11g base stations. Software wise they released the Safari browser (though I’ll stick with Chimera for now thanks) and their X11 implementation. The later is cool, way better than other free releases so far. It’s accelerated, so much faster than previous releases, and has a quartz window manager that gets Aqua windowing on XWindows windows.
