Cloudy with a chance of Ewoks

Since the early days of my time at Camvine, we’ve had a screen in our kitchen at home showing all kinds of random stuff, and I’m always on the look out for something interesting to put in there. So I was pleased to discover Tom Scott’s Star Wars Weather, which nicely summarises the weather by comparing it to one of the many monoclimatic planets in Star Wars.

It may seem (and, let’s face it, it is) a bit silly, but it does the job surprisingly well. Instead of telling me dry (or perhaps wet) facts and figures about the weather, I can get a feel for the day at a glance – “It’s like Hoth? Well I’d better wrap up warm” and so on. Using random bits of shared culture at times can be quite an effective way to quickly get across data.
