On my recent trip up to see my folks in Scotland I stopped overnight half way to let me take it easy. However, given being near hills and lakes is a rare thing for me this year, I got up for sunrise so I could have breakfast on the shore of Ullswater. Whilst I miss the hills of my homeland, I think I take them a little for granted normally. On this trip however the hills of both the Lake District and Scotland felt more impactful that I ever remember - I guess staying at home for half a year will do that.
Sunrise over the hills surrounding Ullswater seemed to give them a particularly magical quality, like they were a scene from a Lord of the Rings film or such. This image is straight out of camera apart from a little crop for aspect ratio. It’s not the best composition, thanks to my folly of switching to the X100F restricting my focal length, but I love this picture for the natural light.
