That's no Harley

20 Jan 2009

One of the things that’s nice about taking my bike in for a service (and acts as a nice distraction from the bill :) is that I get a loan bike for the day. Black Bear being one of the premier Harley dealers in the country means I usually get a Harley to ride around, which is fun. Today, however, I got another Buell – the new 1125 CR, their new Cafe Racer bike:

I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy this bike, never having been particularly drawn to this style, but it is in fact a good fun bike. Like most street fighter or café racer style bikes, it’s got lots of torque, and pulls away like anything. Despite the more racer style seating, it’s remarkably comfortable even for a tall person like me, and the tiny screen at the front does a remarkable job of shielding you from buffeting at 70ish mph. Not something for long journeys, but if you’re looking for something to commute on and have a fun blast around the countryside of a weekend, it’s really worth having a look. Perhaps a good second bike for when I’m wealthy ;)
