Water pump
Water pumps like this remind me of the US more than of home for some reason. I guess I saw them more in popular culture growing up in cities than I did in the real world. There’s one not far from me that ever type I come across it, in an otherwise quite and lonely part of the fens, I’m reminded of Half Life II. Not sure what this says about me, nothing probably good :)
The setting around this one was less photogenic than the sky was dramatic (and shortly after, wetting), hence the upward shot. But I think the black and white processing is again a nod to old sheet film photos of the US mid-west.
