Turn left
This was an attempt to get some interesting background in the sky/sea at dawn by using an ND filter. It didn’t really work out, but I still like the scene, and the long exposure does give it a slightly ghostly, filmic feel to it in my mind.
Mostly I picked this picture as a practice of some Lightroom techniques I learned from this video by Mark Denney about using selective filters rather than global adjustments in Lightroom. This photo was still quite dark in areas despite the long exposure, but bright in others, so it made a good playground for experimenting with Mark’s advice, and the result is a lot better than I’d managed to achieve the last time I tried to edit this picture.
