My sister Karen got married back in 2018 to Kevin McCrae, and it turns out if you’re in the clan McCrae you can get married at Eilean Donan Castle, which is owned by the clan.
I was sort of backup photographer for this trip (my brother and his gf do this professionally) and it has to be the most humbling of photography experiences. The majority of pictures I took were terrible - the lighting in the castle is awful for photography (very dark inside, with very yellow sodium light and bluer external light mixing on different sides of people). It was also an event I wanted to watch, so I wasn’t really as focussed as I should be in both senses. As a result I’ve sat on these pictures in embarrasement, but I’m now determined to get some of them out.
Here I’ve falled back to black and white because the colour and nature of the light in the late evening is distracting from the topic - a wedding as the light fades feels atypical. The sky is a bit blown out too, but you have to just go with things at some point.
