This is an edited version of the next frame I took after this one, which I posted unedited a few days ago. Whilst I’m pleased with how that one came out straight from camera, I had shot it with the intent to not have it so dark.
I actually now don’t think this is particularly better - by brining up the shadows and blacks you end up with a bit of an HDR like look, which I’m not a fan of. I tried to walk that line, but I didn’t want it to be too dark, otherwise it was just a duplicate of the earlier photo.
One thing I do love about the A7Rii is just the level of detail that’s in the frames. This is cropped slightly as I didn’t get the alignment as good as the original photo, and I reduced it to 4x5 as is my vice, but still if you click in to zoom you can see details like the the walkers on the marine lake wall and the far away wind farm on the horizon. I love finding little details in pictures, so this camera suits me down to the ground.
