Stanchion
One of the two stanchions on the new foot bridge at Bar Hill, which you can see in close up detail in yesterday’s picture. I got very muddy shoes trying to get this picture.
This bridge has a sibling a few miles further along the A14, and I’d always assumed they were identical, but I note in my attempt to recreate a picture of the other bridge that the Stanchions are 90 degrees out from this one. I note from the photostream I linked that this lets you get a nice picture of both stanchions that this bridge doesn’t afford, so I suspect another cycle trip will be required in the near future.
I really do hope that Stanchion is the correct term given how much I’ve used it in this post.
