It’s easy for forget when you have lived in Cambridge for so long how many views like this there are, where you get the juxtaposition of old and new architecture.
Last night the Cambridge Camera Club had organised a walk around to do some street photography in the xmas glow, but I suspect due to the cold snap, town was deserted, so there wasn’t much activity to observe. But the clear sky and quiet lanes did make it easier to see the city in another way, making scenes like this one pop out for me - normally I’d be too busy trying to fight my way through the crowds to look up enough to appreciate this view.
This is also evidence that I’m starting to learn - normally I walk around with my 24-70 stuck at its widest, but here I deliberately selected 50mm for this shot, and it really helps balance the foreground and the church.
