Silhouette over gold
Things to do with a zoom lens when you’re used to shooting wide angle - catch your own shadow. You can have fun trying to guess which one is me and which one is Laura.
I very much like the inky blank shadows style, such as those by Valerie Jardin, and I was tempted to edit this that way, but I both liked the golden colour of the reeds, and I felt somehow I should preserve then the blue reflected water in the shadows. I don’t think it really worked this way, but I also think if I had made the photo half in absolute shadow there’s not enough interesting in the top half to carry it.
I’m a big fan of the inky black
