my name is mwd: photos

I can’t tell the age of this sign - whilst the printing is crisp, the layout and font remind me of older signs before computers made it easy to have everything look the same. It sits in a sort of limbo typographically as a result, which I quite like. You can see it was once covered with ivy and has since been cleared.

I also liked the light reflecting off the sign. In part I was trying to capture the lighting that was in two of my favourite pictures from last year: this one of a sign in the setting sun and this one of the rising sun reflecting on a damp pavement (both on film coincidently, though very different film stocks). This picture isn’t quite to their level, but I do like the lighting here.
