Rain over the mainland
Looking back at the mainland from Achill, where the rain is having its fun. As you’d expect the west coast of Ireland (like many a west coast) has dramatic lands with dramatic weather to match.
Interestingly, the lack of definition in these pictures means they work better in colour than in black and white. I think normally for a scene like this I’d be tempted to use black and white to focus the viewer on the cloud and rain more, but here you need the dimensionality that colour brings to make up for the lack of detail.
Certainly going back and looking at these photos makes me want to go back again now I’m more experienced and with a better camera.
