Our guide book suggested that to find some specific land formations to walk around we drive down 173 out of Aztec for very exacting distances, and pick the right turn off to go down sand lanes and part up at gas pumps to see them. We never found what the guide book wanted us to see, but we’re glad we went exploring. The sun was fading the and the rain was heading in, and the place had a nice sense of remoteness to it.
This picture isn’t the best at capturing the trip - I did post another that is probably better a month or two back, but that one is up close and I like the sense of place here. I only wish I’d not stood behind those bushes that clutter the lower third of the shot, or shot with a narrow aperture - as ever I was using street sensibilities for landscape photography.
