I discovered a trick at some point during my regular trips to California for work. I did the trip regularly enough that I by default would get an upgrade over whatever minimal car the company would hire me, which usually was a bigger crossover or something. But I once spotted they had an MX-5 (or Miata as they brand it in the US) and asked about renting that - but because it was a small car they saw that as a downgrade from the crossover, so were happy to let me rent that if it was available. Thus I often managed to sneak in a run along Skyline Boulevard on my way back to the airport in an MX-5, which was a great way to unwind before sitting in a metal tube for the 10 hour flight back home.
This obviously isn’t an MX-5. On this trip I got the MX-5 but quickly had to return it due to a warning light being on all the time. Instead of my default crossover I got given a Mustang - not nearly as fun to drive, but makes for a pretty picture subject :)
