Taken on the walk back from lunch with my Camvine colleagues many years ago.
I recently went through the explore page, and realised how many explored photos are still being taken with what we’d consider old technology. Unlike film cameras, where image quality is less impacted by age, with digital cameras there is that issue that sensors from yesteryear are quantitatively less capable than today’s cameras. But that doesn’t mean they’re subjectively worse when it comes to the images taken.
Yes, I’d have liked more resolution here to get the detail of the swirling snow, but given how new a photographer I was back in 2010, I’m really pleased with the composition and exposure on this image.
In the same way I’ve enjoyed going back and shooting film I do wonder what I could do now with that old Digital Rebel - how much would my experience help me take better photos versus how much would I just get annoyed at the image quality. Thankfully I have too many cameras as it is right now that I’m not tempted to put this to the test :)
