Heron in the willow
Spotted this heron sat unusually high above the water, preening rather than watching for fish. Perhaps it was waiting for all the rowers to finish their early morning practice.
I have to say, this photo did make me question the old adage that "the best camera is the one you have on you" - I was out with just the vintage Yashica 50mm f/2 manual lens, and coupled with the mediocre view finder on the A7rii (an otherwise lovely camera), most the shots I got were out of focus. Frustrating, but if I will try to take wildlife pictures with my hipster setup I get what I deserve :)
