We went for a walk along the beach on faux-xmas-day, and the world was amazingly monochromatic thanks to the fog. The sea was out, leaving behind a flat landscape which made any small feature like this groyne seem very prominent.
Originally I shot this in black and white in camera, but it was sufficiently dull that you lost the texture, and so I went back to raw here and brightened things up.
This was also an excuse to (ab)use the low depth of field of the Sigma lens: in the right moment it almost feels like a large format lens, which was why I picked it up, but I’ve not really felt I’ve made enough use of that. I think I don’t leverage this lens nearly enough with my regular style of photography, but for days like this it was in its element.
