Another picture of this Great Egret that just stood there preening for the better part of half an hour as I watched amazed to be so close to a bird like this.

I have some nice shots of the bird, but once again I’m frustrated that younger me didn’t think to stop down - I find the our of focus branch behind the bird visually distracting, and in quite a lot of pictures the bird is only partially in focus. I used to tell myself I shot on apeture priority, but I didn’t really, I just shot on wide open, which happened to work for a lot of pictures I liked to take, but the moment I was out of my usual zone it really shows.
