I should start by saying I didn’t build this guitar, but I know the chap who did, and I did make a small contribution to it. This is a Stellarosa Lite by Fidelity Guitars that Matt finished whilst I was in the workshop last week and will be now winging its way to the customer.
I take up a small corner of the Fidelity Guitars workshop to work on my own guitar builds, but I struggle to photograph those, being too familiar with them. It’s much easier to photograph Matt’s guitars where I can just enjoy seeing the result without living all the stress and effort that goes into them.
I do find guitar photography hard; even here where I like the composition, a lot of the detail gets lost when the photo is shrunk down for the small screen, making the body and face feel out of focus. Close ups of parts of the guitar tend to come out better, but don’t tell the whole story, which is what I was trying to do here.
