Another attempt at doing a vector outline, this time on a natural subject that had a similar feeling to one I posted yesterday - I liked the image but it didn’t pop. This is, I believe, An Coileach on Skye.
My learning from this one is that the reason the one from yesterday works as well as it does is that the line has a sense of movement to it - it’s not just adding a visual separation from light to dark, but it’s also bringing some visual motion to the picture as they eye tries to follow the line.
With this picture the line between the sky and the land (also Skye) isn’t as exciting, so the image still felt very flat. So instead I tried to add some motion by highlighting the top of the hill, which makes it better, but is a bit naff :)
I spent far too long on this for the results, but that’s experimentation for you!
