I love this chimney’s bright colours, like something from a childhood book. Unfortunately it’s from Centrale électrique de cordemais, a coal fired power station.

I’ve been looking at photos from our boat trip along the Loire between Nantes and Saint-Nazaire, and so much of the infrastructure is painted in nice vivid colours, not just to presumably make it clear to aircraft like this, but also smaller things like cranes are nice colours too. If you’re going to have to have brutal bits of industry (which we kind of do) then you might as well make them joyful colours.
